INDIANAPOLIS (June 27, 2025) — Indiana Right to Life applauds a statement made Wednesday by Attorney General Todd Rokita regarding the recent ruling by a federal judge in Texas vacating a Biden era abortion rule designed to protect abortion providers from transparency.

“We’re moving forward with our goal to protect life and working to undo the many setbacks created by the Biden administration,” Attorney General Rokita said. “We’ve been closely watching the Texas case and updated the Indiana court of the decision there, so we look forward to having a positive outcome in our case. This is a major win for women and for physicians because it would take away an excuse thrown up by abortionists for not complying with state law.”

Indiana Right to Life has repeatedly expressed concerns over incomplete data reported by hospitals and the continued lack of access for public review of properly redacted abortion report forms.

The most recent Indiana Department of Health abortion report, released in late May, notes: “Additionally, there were 20 incomplete reports submitted via email. Eleven were from Indiana University Health and nine were from an unknown Indiana hospital. While these reports confirmed that a terminated pregnancy occurred in Indiana among Indiana resident mothers during Q1 of 2025, they did not include the complete set of required data elements specified under Ind. Code § 16-34-2-5.”

“We are pleased Attorney General Rokita is taking this lack of transparency in abortion reporting seriously and is dedicated to making sure abortion providers follow the law,” says Indiana Right to Life president and CEO Mike Fichter. “We are hopeful the Texas ruling will have an immediate and positive impact in Indiana.”
