INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 1, 2023) — Indiana Right to Life President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Fichter issued this statement today in reaction to last-minute legal action to stop Senate Enrolled Act 1 (2022) from going back into effect. The Indiana Supreme Court ruled in late June that the law is constitutional.
“While we are pleased that some Indiana abortion businesses indicate they are ceasing operations today, the status of the new Indiana law remains unclear. We are hopeful the Indiana Supreme Court quickly affirms the new law is in effect, ending 95% of abortions in our state. This a life and death issue for thousands of unborn babies.”
