INDIANAPOLIS (July 19, 2022) – Indiana Right to Life is calling on all Hoosiers to join in a statewide Day of Prayer on Sunday, July 24 as a time of reflection in advance of the special session next week to address abortion laws in Indiana.

“What we are hoping to see is a movement of the heart, not a program or a protest,” said Mike Fichter, IRTL president and chief executive officer.  “It’s a day to come together as one Hoosier family and affirm that every life has value, because everyone is created in the image of God.”

Churches, small groups, families and individuals are all encouraged to participate in whatever format they determine is the best way to observe the day. Mike Fichter, president and chief executive officer of IRTL says many churches are planning their own congregational gatherings, prolife advocates are planning similar group meetings, and many Hoosiers will pray together as families.

Individuals, companies and organizations throughout Indiana are also encouraged to share the hashtag #IndianaDayofPrayer on their social media streams.

“This is a special time in Indiana history when we particularly need to seek God’s guidance in valuing all life, including unborn babies, and to pursue greater opportunities to show love and compassion for pregnant mothers choosing life,” said Fichter.  “As 2 Timothy 1:17 teaches us, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love.”

Fichter said that participants are encouraged to pray for the wisdom of state leaders and to consider a special offering for any of Indiana’s 120-plus local pregnancy resource centers.
