INDIANA ABORTION STATISTICS
Indiana’s abortion statistics are a sad reminder of the number of young lives lost by abortion, as well as the thousands of women, men, friends and family members impacted by the pain of abortion.
These statistics are compiled by the Indiana State Department of Health. The statistics are taken from Pregnancy Termination Reports which by law must be filed by abortionists for each abortion.
In 2018, there were 8,037 abortions in Indiana, fewer half of the 16,505 reported in 1980, Indiana’s highest single year for abortions.
Indiana Right to Life is relentlessly working to end all abortions in Indiana through an incremental strategy grounded in a realistic view of where the federal courts are at. We are hopeful that one of the many Indiana pro-life laws being challenged in the courts will result in the overturning of Roe vs. Wade and lead to a new day when Indiana can end abortion forever.
