The Indiana Democrats’ candidate for Lt. Governor, Dr. Terry Goodin, has quickly renounced his previous pro-life votes in the state legislature. His flip on abortion solidifies Indiana Democrat intentions to make supporting abortion its top issue in Indiana.

From the AP report:
In his remarks to reporters, Goodin took the issue head on, explaining he’s dropped positions that ran counter to core Democratic values, including access to abortion, a top-of-mind issue for voters since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision two years ago overturned the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing the procedure.
“My vote on women’s reproductive rights was pretty spotty at best, but I was always counseled by my female colleagues that if these bills go too far, Roe v. Wade would nullify them,” Goodin, 57, said. “The Dobbs decision has changed all that. We are in a completely new universe.”
Indiana Legislative Insight on July 5, 2024, reported:
Sen. Ford then addresses the Democratic elephant on the table. “The choice of Dr. Goodin as Dr. McCormick’s running mate has sparked significant concern within our party – myself included. His past votes have not always aligned with the core values we stand for. He has cast votes that were anti-choice, anti LGBTQ, and against gun safety. These positions are troubling, and I shared the apprehensions many of you have expressed.
However, I have spoken directly with Dr. Goodin, and he assured me of his commitment to change. He has expressed a willingness to evolve and has vowed to support and defend the rights and values that we, as Democrats, hold dear. I found our conversation sincere. Dr. Goodin acknowledged his past
and expressed a clear intent to couple his apologies with actions that reflect a genuine shift in his stance. As someone who has seen the critical role the LG plays, I will hold him accountable to his promises. I will ensure that he stands by his commitment to protect reproductive rights, support marriage equality, and
advocate for gun safety measures.” Ford adds, “I believe in the power of redemption and the possibility of change. Dr. Goodin has assured me, and I will take him at his word, but I also promise to vigilantly ensure that his actions align with his words.”
“Dr. Goodin’s change on the issue of abortion dismisses the humanity of unborn babies and overlooks the success of Indiana’s new law in eliminating 98% of Indiana’s abortions,” notes Indiana Right to Life President and CEO Mike Fichter. “Indiana is on the path of being a shining example of what a state can be when we provide compassionate care for pregnant mothers and protections for unborn babies. True health care recognizes the value of moms and babies, including unborn babies.”
