On this historic day when Indiana’s new abortion law goes into effect, Indiana Right to Life is calling on Hoosiers to observe a moment of silence at 12 noon in solemn observance of the 558,561 unborn children killed by abortion in Indiana since 1973.
Mike Fichter, President and CEO, issued this statement:
“Today we mourn the loss of 558,561 unborn children from abortion in our state over the last 50 years. This number is staggering, but we must not look away as if these little ones did not matter. We must be willing to reflect on the full meaning of this moment and grieve over abortion’s toll on these children, as well as its impact on generations of women and men for whom the pain of abortion remains all too real. This is a new day for Indiana. Hoosiers must come together in a commitment to make Indiana a state known for its support for pregnant mothers and compassion for unborn children. We must love them both. But as we celebrate the progress of today, we must pause and remember every one of these 558,561 children who never had the chance to be born.”
